Ladakh Diary
Ladakh, the land of high passes, is a region in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir that extends from the Kunlun mountain range to the main Great Himalayas to the south. Its culture and history are closely related to that of Tibet, and especially to buddhism. Starting in the magic city of Leh, for many days we followed the glacial Markha river towards its source, steadily acclimatising as we go and admiring the sheer scale and variety of geology, as well as colours. Having acclimatised and cleared to 5100m Kongmaru La, there were still a few spectacular high passes to cross before finally reaching Stok Kangri’s base camp.
